Fade Street is a Reality television show produced by, and shown on RTÉ 2 in Ireland, as part of the "Dumbing Down the Populus" season. Its format is loosely based on the style of The Hills, or other recession-busting Reality television programmes like 'Celebrity nik-naks' and 'I'm a tit, shoot me soon'. It follows the personal lives of several real-world personifications of the ideas of delusion and grandeur, dishing out figurative and literal blowjobs in the hope their fifteen minutes will stretch a little further. These caricatures are less representative of young Irish adults than Paris Hilton, but would go weak at the knees to be referenced in the same sentence as her hotness. RTE really went to get the worst excuse for the youth of Ireland today and in that respect, these spoilt brats with no life are it, kudos RTE, kudos.
The participants in the show work in a variety of jobs, each more typical than the last, and would rather be raped by Americana than display a shred of integrity in the public eye.

RTÉ claims that the show is not scripted, but spontaneous. However, RTE are as notoriously trustworthy as Fianna Fail book-keeping. Like The Hills, many of the scenes in the show are manipulated by the shows creators. However the characters are not given lines or a script, just large doses of pretentiousness, and the ensuing social-awkwardness is captured on film, delighting the cringe-junkies raised on Ricky Gervais and Irish family dinners.
The soundtrack is central to the series, intended to reflect the Irish music scene's blend of native quirk and globo-chic. Like the cast, the music screams of an overexposure to American culture and influences from away over the water, while always struggling to be anything other than typically middle-of-the-road Irish.
