Description
English: A photograph taken early 1871 of the enlargement of the Limehouse Basin of the Regent's Canal. The directors and Chief Engineer of the Regent's Canal Company pose for the occasion. On the left of the retaining wall is the River Thames (not visible). On the right is a coffer dam which is holding back water and sailing ships.
