Description
English: The Clothworkers' Company. Plaque near Clothworkers' Hall, City of London. Arms of the Worshipful Company of Clothworkers: Sable, a chevron ermine between in chief two havettes argent and in base a teasel cob or. Shearboard hooks (harbicks or havettes) were double hooks used to attach lengths of cloth to the shearing table or bench for shearing or levelling the nap or pile (Allan, J.P., Medieval and Post-Medieval Finds from Exeter, Exeter Archaeological Reports, 1984, p.345) which had been created by combing with teasels.
