Summary

Description "A Splendid Spread", satire on an early inflatable (air tube) version of the crinoline by George Cruikshank, from The Comic Almanack, 1850. (Crinolines did not actually come into wide use until a few years later.) Note that the gentlemen have to use long-handled trays ("baker's peels") if the ladies are to be able to eat or drink.
