English: 1880 - J M Grimley Carpets - Trade Card

The firm was opened in 1884 by Jeremiah M Grimley. He was born on 14 Jun 1855 to Jeremiah Grimley and Mary Ann Moyer in Fredrick Township, Montgomery Country. Grimley was a graduate of Ursinus College. He married Caroline Elizabeth Treichler and had a child Sadie T Grimley in 1877. Sadie T married Franklin S Kuntz and had 3 children.

In 1910, Grimley took on partners, Harry S. Landis and Harvey Troxell. Landis was a financial man, having been a teller at the Merchants National Bank. Troxell was a carpet man, working for seventeen years for W. R. Lawfer Company and being in the carpet business for twenty-six years.

Grimley passed away on 17 Feb 1914. It is unknown when the store closed. Today the building remains as a retail business, currently being the Lana Beauty Supply Company.
