| Description | 1887 map of the "Montreal and Boston Air Line" and "White Mountain Route". The route uses sections of the Boston and Lowell Railroad, Connecticut and Passumpsic Rivers Railroad (leased by the B&L in 1887), South-Eastern Railway (leased by the C&PR from 1875 to 1884, when it was transferred to the Canadian Pacific Railway) and Portland and Ogdensburg Railroad (independent until leased by the Maine Central Railroad in 1886). Part of the South-Eastern Railway's line was the Montreal, Portland and Boston Railway, operated by the C&PR until 1896 when the Central Vermont Railway acquired it. |
