Summary

Description

1949 saw a completely redesigned car, (except for the drivetrain), a new ladder frame, new suspension and new body got a modern look with completely integrated rear fenders and just a hint of a fender in front. This shape ran from 1949-51. The 1949 and 1950 models, very similar, were known as the Single Spinners, as the cars had a chrome spinner embellishment in the centre of the grille. For the 1951 model, it got two spinners and was, known as the Twin Spinner. The difference between the 49 and 50 cars was the parkers were moved from the central bar in the grille to just below it in 1950. In 1949 Standard or Custom trim was available. 2 and 4 door sedans, 2 door coupe, convertible and wagon. In 1950 the 'Crestliner' was introduced, a 2 door sedan with 2 tone paint, also the 'Country Squire', a 2 door woody wagon. Trim was now Deluxe or Custom Deluxe. 1951 saw the introduction of the 2 door 'Victoria' Hardtop. The 1949-51 Ford was also produced in Australia in V8 Sedan and unique to Australia, the Coupe Utility.
