Summary

Description
English: A 1965 Farmobil 700 seen at the 2014 Lime Rock Concours d'Élegance. This is a late model, which I suppose explains the headlamps - usually I only see single round headlights on Farmobils. Developed by Germany's Fahr company the Farmobil was built by Peter Kondorgouris' Farco company in Thessaloniki (Greece); this had been purchased by Chrysler by the time this car was built. The Farmobil was sold as a BMW in Germany and a few other countries, as a Steyr in Austria and Switzerland, and as a Chrysler product (through Simca in France) after the Farco takeover. Only about 1000 were built between 1962 and 1966. This one belongs to Willy Wiley, a long-term member of BMWCCA.

I would like to add a few additional bits of information and a couple of corrections to the above information. The Farmobil was indeed marketed in Germany in 1965 and sold through the BMW dealer network. It was badged as a BMW Farmobil(with one additional BMW roundel badge being added and placed adjacent to the Farmobil badge on the rear number plate panel). I am unaware of any other factual information or evidence to support the Farmobil being badged as anything other than "Farmobil" in all the other markets where it was sold (including through the Simca/ Chrysler network in France). The square front headlights on this vehicle are a modification and not originally factory fitted parts. Although the brand of head light fitted may have varied for different market to comply with local market laws, all Farmobils were manufactured with round headlights.
