| Description |
English: A typical Soap Box Derby racer from the late 1950s to mid-1960s. This particular racer, built and piloted by Frederick Arild Olsen, won the 1965 Portland Oregon Soap Box Derby local championship. Young Fred went on to compete at the All-American National Championship in Akron, OH that year, winning heats in the first and second round. He was bested in the third by William Wetzel, who placed second in the All-American. The racer comprised design features such as a low, narrow and tapered body, a cleft fore-deck, and axle wings. The wheels were All-American Championship issue, painted gold in 1965, and identified by commemorative decals.
