English: 2006 Commonwealth Games-John Dory
Description on the plaque: Information about the sculpture and the 2006 Commonwealth Games 72 fish sculptures were created to represent each nation competing in the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games. They were displayed on barges in the Yarra River as part of nightly festivities for the duration of the games As well as fish, there were dolphins, whales, prawns and a turtle.
Each sea creature is either indigenous to the country they represented or are important to the local economy of that country. The sculptures were constructed by a team that consisted of more than 30 designers, artists and fabricators. It took a year to complete the entire project.
