Description220 HP 9-Cylinder Continental Radial Aero Engine - Motive Power Gallery - BITM - Calcutta 2000 163.jpg
English: Photographed at Kolkata. (Note the placard is partly in error. This engine is a radial, but not a rotary. (Rotary engines were a First World War technology, but this engine dates from around the Second World War or later. A rotary engine spins as it runs: the propeller is mounted to its casing, and the crankshaft is fixed to the aircraft's frame.) Also, this is a 9-cylinder radial). This is Continental's version of the Wright R-975, produced post-war for aircraft use.
