| Description |
After planning and booking this trip to Germany a few months ahead, news came of a new stretch of passenger line east of Berlin. Fortunately it branched off the main line from Berlin to Frankfurt (Oder) at Erkner so slotting it in wasn't too difficult. The line was already in place to the electric car factory owned by Tesla who have funded this. A generous long platform, roughly hourly service Monday to Friday (free of charge for all) was funded by Tesla and opened up in September initially for 3 years until the station at Fangschleuse on the mainline is relocated closer to the factory. With no battery operated rolling stock available, local regional operator Niederbarnimer Eisenbahn have acquired 20+ year old Bombardier Talent 3-car DMUs from RegioJet. Seen on 27 October 2023 is a 6-car train formed of 643362 and 643363 with myself and one other passenger on train TES61296, 10:55 Fangschleuse Tesla Süd to Erkner. |
