English: Name: Gimal House St. Stephens Church Description: A metal cross sculpture whose head is curved and depicts the crucifixion of Jesus. The creator of the statue is Yigal Tomarkin who donated it to the church. עברית: שם: בית גימאל כנסיית סטפנוס הקדוש תיאור: פסל צלב מתכת אשר ראשו מעוקל ומתאר את צליבתו של ישוע.יוצר הפסל יגאל תומרקין אשר תרם אותו לכנסייה. הערות: על פי המסורת הנוצרית, בשלושה בדצמבר בשנת 415 לספירה, חלם כומר ביזנטי בשם לוקיאנוס שהתגורר בכפר גמלא, כי עצמותיו של סטפנוס הקדוש נמצאות בבית ג'מאל. לאחר חיפושים אכן נמצאו עצמות במקום ועל כן נבנתה בו כנסייה ביזנטית על שמו של סטפנוס.סטפנוס נחשב בדיעבד למרטיר הנוצרי הראשון משום שהוא היה הנוצרי הראשון שנסקל למוות על חומות ירושלים בגלל אמונתו. סטפנוס חי כיהודי ואף היה תלמידו של רבן גמליאל הזקן, אולם בסוף ימיו השתייך השתייך לקבוצת המאמינים היהודים בישו כמשיח.הכנסייה הנוכחית נבנתה ב 1932 (ויקיפדיה) מיקום: בית גימאל קובץ מקורי: DSC02870.JPG |
