English: A1(M) Motorway, Merrybent, Darlington. The motorway was built along the trackbed of the former Merrybent Railway as far as Barton Quarries. This is close enough to Low Coniscliffe to be in its parish, but since the A1 went through here, it has acted as a psychological division between Low Coniscliffe and Merrybent.
