Description
English: Nui Dat, South Vietnam. 1969-05. Four senior allied officers after a ceremony to mark the beginning of a joint training venture. Left to right: the Senior US Adviser to the 18th Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) Division, Colonel Walter Coleman; the Commander of the 1st Australian Task Force (1ATF), Brigadier C. M. I. Pearson of Deakin, ACT; Brigadier General Giai, Commander of the 18th ARVN Division; Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Be Truoc, Province Chief of Phuoc Tuy. In the new scheme, a company from 1ATF will train a battalion of Vietnamese troops from the 18th Division in Australian tactics. Note the Australian and Vietnamese flags behind them.
