Look at that portico, the columns, the Communist-era star - ok maybe not the star, but everything else has me thinking Antebellum plantation house.
This building, in the Shanghai World Expo 2010 site, is part of a former shipbuilding factory. I certainly do hope some enterprising entrepreneur buys it up, guts it, and reopens it (in time for the Expo) as a bed and breakfast with coffee shop, etc.
What a great heritage attraction for Expo goers!
Of course I fear the reality is that the Municipality of Shanghai will bulldoze such a beautiful building :(
