Summary

Description
English: Prospecting bore-hole, Aandenk, Allanridge. It was at this site where Allan Roberts proved the deposits (basal reef and carbon leader reef) of gold in the Orange Free State and triggering the rush which unintentionally justified the implementation of Apartheid in South Africa. Prospecting started in 1932 but the area was proven beyond doubt in 1946 with the Geduld strike.
