DescriptionAlex. - Eraldică (Știrbei), Ghimpele, 31 ian 1867.png
English: Humorous heraldry for the conservative Princes Știrbei, in the liberal magazine Ghimpele. The coat of arms depicts instrument of repression and the date 1849, referring to Barbu Știrbei's treatment of dissent during his rule in Wallachia. In crest, a pun featuring redroot pigweed (știr in Romanian). The supporters are a Russian (Cossack) lancer and an Ottoman soldier. Motto is in faux Latin, suggesting that Știrbei is a combination of pigweed and the Ottoman title bey.
