Summary

Description

Anchor ice platelets on a rope that had been suspended in the water column for several hours in McMurdo Sound, Antarctica. Platelets can be as large as 10cm in diameter, but it is more likely to observe platlets of about 5cm in diameter. Ice growth of this nature can occur in as little as a few hours, or may take several days, depending on the conditions.
