English: Map of the Angolan Civil War during December 1992 - June 1993.
Following the 1992 general elections, renewed tensions between UNITA and MPLA supporters plunged Angola back into a civil war. With UNITA taking control of M'banza Congo, Uige, Caxito, N'dalatando, and most the countryside, government forces were mostly confined to the city centers (after purging UNITA supporters), coastline, and southwest Angola. In an attempt to secure the area near Luanda, government forces launched their offensive in late December 1992.
