English: The written word being of such vital importance to the development of any movement, the Bamford family can be considered as having contributed significantly to the Co-operative movement. Three members of the family were editors of Co-op newspapers and father and son, Samuel and William, between them acted as Editor of Co-operative News' for 45 years, while Samuels' daughter, Annie (Tomlinson) was Editor of the Women's Corner of the paper for nearly 30 years.
