DescriptionArdmore Avenue Train Station (5978677702).jpg
Former Ardmore Avenue Station for the Chicago, Aurora, and Elgin electric railroad in Villa Park (1910). The station was built as a ploy by a real estate firm to encourage Chicagoans to move out to their buildings. The CA&E was a major rail line in the early 20th century because it was much faster than traditional rail, which had to share its track with freight trains. The railroad was connected to the L, so it could directly serve the Loop. The CA&E right-of-way has been converted into the Illinois Prairie Path.
