DescriptionArmand Bayou Nature Center -- Entrance Sculpture.jpg
English: Armand Bayou Nature Center is the largest urban wilderness preserve in the United States. It contains 2500 acres of the natural wetlands forest, prairie and marsh habitats once abundant in the Houston and Galveston area. It's home to over 370 species of birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians. Over 600 acres of tallgrass prairie habitat has been restored to presettlement conditions. 30+ acres of bayou marsh habitat has been restored to pre-subsidence conditions. It has exhibits, field trips, birding, a small transplanted/restored Texas farm and a breakfast boat ride on the bayou. School programs and field trips can be coordinated with the outdoor education staff.
