The search for the ASEAN IKON is a a tri-nation competition among Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. The Philippine leg was hosted by Asia Agcaoili & was sponsored by Manila Bulletin and Solar Entertainment and presented by Pulse.ph.
Viewers texted their votes after a series of IKON telecasts over RPN 9 and together with judges from the musical and telecommunications industries propelled five solo artists and six bands to the finals.
Judges Vince Parr of WOLFPAC, rock legend Wally Gonzales, Apo's Danny Javier and Eugene Villaluz had a tough time casting their votes.
Those that did great & received fans' approval included: Julianne, Skarlett, Noel Cabangon, Sitti Navarro & Vina Morales in the Soloists Category.
The six bands are: True FAith, Chicosci, Spounge Cola, Kjwan, Kala and The Dawn. They will compete in a knock-out round on Aug 5 at Le Pavillion telecast live on RPN 9, 7PM.
The grand finals of the ASEAN IKON is on Aug 12 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
