DescriptionBURLINGTON'S LOST BURIAL GROUND, BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ.jpg
English: WHEN THE EXCAVATIONS WERE BEING DONE TO PUT THE RAILROAD TRACK DOWN THE CENTER OF BROAD STREET THEY ENCOUNTERED A GROUP OF BODIES WHICH ARCHEOLOGISTS DETERMINED WERE OF NORTHERN EUROPEAN ORIGIN CIRCA 1650. SINCE THE ENGLISH DID NOT ARRIVE UNTIL 1670 THEY WERE PROBABLY OF SWEDISH OR FINNISH ORIGIN. I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO HAVE THE PASTOR OF NEW ST. MARY’S CHURCH, REVEREND HAYNES, SHOW ME THE EXACT SPOT OF THE BURIAL GROUND WHICH IS DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF WHERE I STOOD TO TAKE THIS PICTURE. PASTOR HAYNES OFFICIATED AT THE RE-INTERRMENT OF THE BODIES SO THERE IS NO DOUBT ABOUT THE EXACT SPOT.
