Fantasy on Modern Costume: Atalanta

Description
English: Léon Bakst as fashion designer -- he combines elements of 1912 styles (when a trend towards straight narrow skirts was displacing the brief hobble-skirt fad) with elements of the old Empire silhouette -- posed against modern new-fangled technological gadgetry. The draping of the bottom hems of the upper and lower skirts is influenced by ancient Greek women's attire, while the little ankle-vent would have been considered moderately racy and intriguingly unusual by the standards of 1912, while not being actually indecent for indoors wear.
