Bangkok_26_th_bridge-1909.jpg (515 × 333 pixels, file size: 37 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

Postcard of Thailand - the bridge over Klong Saen Saeb on Phaya Thai Road near Sra Paduma Palace ("Lotus Pond Palace"). It was built in 1908 in the reign of King Rama V., originally named "Saphan Chalerm Lar 56" to commemorate the king's 56th birthday, but usually called "Saphan Hua Chang" ("Elephant Head Bridge"). Today this bridge is under the Skytrain route. It is the 15th of the 17 "Chalerm"-bridges built in the reign of King Chulalongkorn, and one of the three bridges that survived modernisation of Bangkok; one can still be seen on Ratchadamri Rd. crossing Klong Saen Saeb, the other one directly underneath Saphan Taksin Skytrain station. Bangkok, Thailand - 1908
