DescriptionBarking 3 railway station geograph-2203381-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg
English: Fenchurch Street - Shoeburyness train approaching Barking.
View westward, towards London, from the same bridge as TQ4484 : Fenchurch Street - Shoeburyness train approaching Barking but 12½ years earlier, soon after Nationalisation and before the major changes in layout. Still un-renumbered Stanier 3-cylinder 4P 2-6-4T No. 2511 is on ancient stock approaching old Midland signals. (The 3-cylinder 2-6-4Ts were the principal motive-power on the Tilbury Line trains in those days). The Tottenham & Forest Gate lines to/from Kentish Town are on the far side, beyond the LPTB District/Metropolitan tracks. The first two carriages are Midland Railway arc roof coaches, the remainder of the train appears to be LMS (or late MR) elliptical roof stock.
