Summary
[edit]Description | Information page from the Icelandic passport of Blær Bjarkardóttir (born in 1997), whose name was rejected by the Icelandic Naming Committee — a decision which was overturned by an Icelandic court in January 2013.
Note that the Icelandic word Stúlka (= girl) appears on Blær's passport in place of her real given name. Taken from a screen shot of a September 2012 broadcast of Ísland í dag from Iceland's Channel 2, as aired by SCOLA on 14 September 2012. Certain items of personal information — day and month of birth, government identification number, and passport number — were greyed out of this shot by me, in order to respect Blær's privacy and prevent this image's being used for purposes of identity theft. |

Portion used |
A single screen shot, showing information page of an Icelandic passport, with certain portions greyed out to preserve privacy |
Low resolution? |
372x267 pixels; reduced from original screen shot size, and slightly blurred as an artifact of the resizing process |
Purpose of use |
To substantiate two claims made in the article — Blær Bjarkardóttir's birth year (1997), and the Icelandic government's use of the word Stúlka ("girl" in Icelandic) in place of her real given name |
Replaceable? |
I was not able to find other sources specifically substantiating the above two claims in the article |
