Summary

Description
English: First animal life on land. Mass stranding of jellyfish on ripple-marked sand. A euthycarcinoid (Mosineia) (bottom left, up to 15 cm long) makes Protichnites eremita, as a phyllocarid (Arenosicaris) (bottom right, green) makes a bilobed trail and moults is carapace. Meanwhile (above) a large slug-like mollusc (up to 70 cm long) produces Climactichnites wilsoni as it grazes on the microbial mats. In the distance, euthycarcinoids occupy a small pool before it dries up. Some trackways head off into the dunes. Painted by Todd C. Gass, who also wrote the magazine article (in which this image first appeared) with Dr. Simon Braddy and the submitter of this upload.
