DescriptionBlaenavon (High Level) Station 1825292 9faf8e87.jpg
English: Blaenavon (High Level) Station (remains).
View NW, towards Brynmawr; ex-LNW line Brynmawr to Abersychan & Talywain, thence GWR to Pontypool and Newport. Passenger service ceased 3/5/41, goods 6/54 (except coal from Big Pit southward until 1980 - hence the shining rails). The station seemed to be still well-preserved in this 1962 photograph, however. The Pontypool & Blaenavon (Heritage) Railway is being extended down from Furnace Siding (to the north) in 2010.
