Summary
| Description |
English: The bungalow at the end of High View Avenue, Herne Bay, Kent, England. For much of the time during which Will Scott the author (1893-1964) lived in the same street towards the end of his life, this bungalow was empty. The local children played in it, invented myths of rats and ghosts, and locked each other in the coal shed at the back. During that period it was painted pastel blue-green. Will Scott included a fictional empty house in the background setting of some of his Cherrys series stories, written from 1952 to 1964. This real empty house in his street may have suggested the fictional one. |
