English: Painted figure of a cavalryman.
  • Western Han Dynasty (206 B.C. - A.D. 8)
  • Excavated at Xianyang, Shaanxi Province, 1965
This painted statue of a cavalryman found in a general's tomb shows a lively horse and rider. The rider is seated on a painted saddle, wearing a short robe and hemp shoes, with his hair bound up in a headdress; the sturdy and stout horse appears to be neighing.

Français : Représentation peinte d'un cavalier. Han de l'ouest (206 av.-8 ap. notre ère). Découvert à Xianyang, Shaanxi en 1965. Cette statuette d'un cavalier trouvée dans la tombe d'un général montre un cheval vigoureux et son cavalier. Celui-ci est assis sur une selle peinte, il porte un manteau court et des chaussures de chanvre, ses cheveux serrés dans une coiffe; le cheval semble robuste et corpulent.
