Nederlands: De ribab is een belangrijk instrument in een Berbermuziekstijl die "muziek van Rouais" wordt genoemd oftewel Troubadours, en die met name in de Anti-Atlas en Sous-valei wordt gespeeld. De ribab wordt met behulp van een koord om de schouders gehangen en met de strijkstok bespeeld net als een viool. De basis van deze muziekstijl wordt gevormd door een klein orkest bestaand uit een zestal leden dat onder leiding van een rays (meester) staat die dit instrument zelf bespeelt en vaak ook de zanger van de groep is. Soms wordt deze rol door een vrouw vervuld, zij wordt dan de tarayst genoemd. Naast de ribab bestaan de instrumenten van dit gezelschap uit twee luthars (snaarinstrumenten), een nakoes (ijzeren kast waarop met twee ijzeren staafjes wordt geslagen) en een trommel (tallount) als percussieinstrument. |
