Object history 1869: purchased
Notes Sotkottaret are characters that gathered to listen to Väinämöinen play (1). Yet I don’t quite understand how this sculpture depicts that. I wonder if the name is coincidental and is meant to depict something else. Nevertheless most of Sjöstrand’s works are related to Kalevala and this features a duck, so presumably it’s still somehow related to Kalevala.
