English: "Charlie's Ruts": Santa Fe Trail ruts, visible at historical-marker pulloff on U.S. Highway 50/400 between Lakin and Deerfield in Kearny County, Kansas. The ruts have formed swales; the camera is facing northeast, up one swale. The vegetation in the bottom of the swale is taller and appears darker than the short grass on the high areas between the swales.
