Summary

Description
English: Clondalkin Round Tower Towers such as this served as bell-towers and places of refuge between the 10th and 12th centuries. Clondalkin Round Tower is 84 feet high and retains its original cap. The outside stairs may also be possibly original. The tower stands on the site of a monastery founded by St Cronan or Mochua in the 7th century and which was plundered by the Vikings in 832 and burned in 1071. (Text taken from the plaque erected by the Office of Public Works, Dublin, on the tower itself.)
