Summary

Description SAULT SAINTE MARIE, Mich. -- Had she launched on time in July 1971, the Roger Blough at 858 feet long and 105 feet wide, would have been the largest boat on the Great Lakes for nearly a year. Tragically an engine room fire took the lives of four workers and delayed her launch by 11 months. She was christened just a month after the 1000 foot-long Stewart J. Cort. Here is the Blough, downbound in the Poe Lock May 24, 2012. (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers photography by Michelle Hill)
