Summary

Description Lot 5967-3: Coast Guard Icebreakers and Navy Task Group in Arctic Mission. Moving cautiously in front of hundreds of gigantic icebergs, the U.S. Coast Guard Cutters Northwind (WAGB-282), (background), and Eastwind (WAGB-279)traverse a Greenland fjord near one of the most active glaciers. Both icebreakers were part of the Navy Task Group which successfully completed Arctic missions during the summer months. Official U.S. Coast Guard Photograph, release September 1952.
