English: Coat of arms of the Austrian Archbishop Alois Kothgasser, Archbishop Emeritus of Salzburg, and therefore Primas Germaniae.

En la actualidad, el arzobispo de Salzburgo en su calidad de Primas Germaniae tiene - y sigue ejerciendo - el privilegio de ser legatus natus (i.e. ex officio, sin nombramiento alguno) ante el Papa, lo que le confiere el derecho, aún sin ser cardenal, de llevar vestiduras de color rojo (un rojo más oscuro que el escarlata de los cardenales), incluso en el Vaticano.
