Description
English: A largely intact floating wreckage of a Japanese Navy Mitsubishi G4M Type 1 land attack plane (Allied code name "Betty"), which crashed during the aerial torpedo attack on the Allied invasion force off Tulagi Island on 8 August 1942. The photo was taken from the U.S. Navy destroyer USS Ellet (DD-398).
