English: Crossing the Taff Bargoed river Bridge Crossing the Taff Bargoed river between the lakes. These lakes were formed when the valley was reclaimed from the slag heaps which covered the valley. The river had been culverted through the village in order to fill the valley and enable development which made easier mining at Taff Merthyr and Deep Navigation Collieries.
