Summary[edit]

This is an image I made of a Netherlands Antilles (Curacao) postage stamp (Scott cat) no C4, issued in 1934. This is used to illustrate Art Deco stamps. This is only one of 13 similar stamps Netherlands Antilles issued at the time, each differing only in value. There is no reasonable replacement for the image which is necessary to convey the specific Art Deco style of the stamp, which cannot be explained without an image of the stamp. There is no alternative to use of this image. The stamp is postally cancelled and is scanned at a lower resolution and this usage does not affect any possible monetary interest Curacao might have in the image, which is highly questionable. It is generally accepted in Wikipedia that an image of a postage stamp used to illustrate a philatelic article is fair use.
