Bronze and enamel commemorative pin badge for the Round the World Flight (Weltrundfahrt) of the German airship D-LZ 127 "Graf Zeppelin", August 8-29, 1929. (The creator/manufacturer of the pin is unknown but it is probably of US origin owing to the inaccurate representation of the profile of the airship as well as the map showing North and South America with letter designations for Los Angeles, CA (L-A) and Lakehurst, NJ (L). If this were a German designed and manufactured pin it is more likely that the map would have depicted Europe and Asia with Friedrichshafen and Tokio as the German operators (DELAG) considered the round-the-world flight to have started and ended in Friedrichshafen (August 15 to September 4) while the American sponsor (Hearst newspapers) considered the flight to the have started and ended at Lakehurst.) Versions of this pin are also known to exist with orange/red enamel as opposed to white.
