Not a steam powered locomotive but a horse powered one! The Dandy Cart was the predecessor of steam locomotives on coal-hauling wagonways and tramways. Poor horse - I'm sure in real life they didn't look like the thoroughbred dummy above! The Cart illustrated dates from 1829. It is at the National Railway Museum York, 09/10.
