The colour cartoon shows United Kingdom as "perfidious Albion" – personified with British military kilt, sporran, tunic, and glengarry – wading through blood to carry off Mercury's caduceus (symbol of commerce) and a sack marked "£" (pounds sterling) and " GmbH". GmbH=Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung, a phrase approximating the British "Ltd" or "plc" (private limited company) or the American "LLC" (limited liability company). № 124 in the Volksbücher der Geschichte ("People's Books of History") series. |
