Summary

Description
English: Effect of a dilute gene on the coat colour of dogs with BB or Bb on the B-locus (black eumelanin) and of dogs with bb on the B locus (chocolate brown eumelanin). As the wild type allele is dominant, the lightening only appears phenotypically in those dogs that are homozygous for the dilute gene. The heterozygous dogs may inherit it as genetic carrieres.
