Summary[edit]

This is my Blue Throated Macaw : "Nita" - Please feel free to use her picture for any purpose that includes a balanced view of the domestication and/or protection of all avian creatures... parrots are fantasic creatures... sometimes, even wonderful pets... but they deserve our respect and careful consideration whenever making them a member of a human family... they are sensitive creatures that require/deserve more attention than most humans can give... you should make sure you consider this before bringing any parrot into you home... do your research... these are extremely long lived pets and are a lifetime commitment... if you are serious about wanting/loving a parrot, please make sure you consider options for "rescue"... though they might be difficult in the beginning, an adult, rescued parrot may in the end be exactly what you are looking for (especially if you already own a parrot)... but on the flip side, many breeders are dedicated to ensuring a population of these fantastic creatures... so getting a bred "baby" is not a bad thing or anything to feel guilty over so long as you have done your research/know your intentions... the bottom line is to make sure you keep an open heart and mind, and you'll understand just how boring life can be without these obnoxious, yet wonderful creatures....
