Description

This image is a combination of two screenshots, the left one is taken from the Japanese version Dragon Quest and the right one is taken from the North American version. The images depict the same scene for the two versions; this is the first scene players see once they begin a new game.

Purpose of use

To compare graphical the differences in the Japanese of Dragon Quest and North American release of Dragon Warrior. Specifically, noting how the king, guards and hero have changed their appearances from the Japanese to North American version. In addition, the image also shows that characters in the North American version facing different directions, an element added in that release. While the latter can be described in words, the former cannot.

Replaceable?

No free substitute can be constructed as Dragon Quest and Dragon Warrior is licensed property of Square-Enix (formerly Enix), the image is of a minimal resolution, and use of this image does not interfere with the commercial value of the Dragon Quest franchise.
