Description
English: A factory frontage in Drews Lane, Ward End, Birmingham, England in October 2000. At the time the photo was taken, the factory was the main plant of the van maker LDV. Since the demise of LDV in 2008, this building has been demolished and the site cleared for redevelopment.

The factory was built in 1913, During its life, the plant was used as:

  • the assembly plant of Wolseley Motors until 1948
  • the transmission plant for the British Leyland (BL) Austin-Morris division from 1968
  • the van production for BL from 1972, evolving into Freight Rover
  • the van production centre for the commercial vehicle company Leyland DAF from 1987
  • the van business for the independent LDV following the collapse of Leyland DAF in 1993
